QUICK UPDATE….

I know it has been awhile, but I am still here.  In fact, you can find me on Facebook:

https://www.facebook.com/roo.roo.104?fref=ts

But I do promise that I will be adding more stories soon…… Zeeland and Switzerland.

I also updated my store!  Now you can find designs with BRINDLES!

**I think that I added over 40 new products and graphics.  If there is a color for the graphics that you want to see added let me know!  Also you can customize most of the shirts by choosing different colors of fabric.

And in the store you will find the special addition FLASH apparel and items.  We all know that whippets and sighthounds/windhunds are the fastest.  Now you can show off just how fast your dog is by wearing the FLASH shirts based on DC Comics Superhero the Flash!  If these are popular then you may see some other special additions in the future!

Remember if you buy something send me a photo of you wearing it!  I want to share it here on my page.

Below are samples… but there is much much more!

Weekend on the Mosel PART V: Cochem (Conclusion)

You might ask why it took so long for me to wrap up this part of my blog.  Well, my mom planned a nice big vacation in Zeeland in Holland on the North Sea for us.  So, I took a break from the blog to have another adventure.  Plus it is hard for a puppy to sit still in front of the computer for too long… I gotta have some excitement!

We walked around the narrow streets of Cochem for a little while and finally decided to sit down at a cafe.  I of course got my own chair!  I am a big puppy now, and I have needs!  It was very relaxing, but very busy.

After relaxing for a little while we decided to take the bus up to Reichsburg Castle.  The bus was a big… and drove up the narrow streets to the top of the mountain!  My father said that the bus driver would have no problems driving in NYC…. dodging tourists and making it through tiny spaces…  he could do it with ease.

Once we got to the top of the mountain and to the castle we could look down over the city and see the Mosel.  It was such a beautiful sight.  The castle on the outside is amazing as well.  With a big mosaic on the side, it truly is stunning!

We unfortunately did not have time to go in because our parking meter would run out if we did the 45 minute tour.  But I believe the tour is dog friendly, so one might be able to take the tour with their dog.  You should double check online before trying.  But just experiencing a place with so much history is breath taking!

We decided to walk down the mountain, which was nice.  I like getting a little exercise!  Plus, it is always fun to take different route… you never know what you may find when going a different direction!

By the time I got back to the car I was tired and ready for a nap.  It was also getting a little later in the day, so it was time to go home.  There is still more to see along the Mosel, but that will have to be another trip.

So to wrap things  up… I traveled to wine country in Germany, won a 1st place prize, met some nice people (and other dogs), spent time with family in Trier, and saw some amazing sights!  A really exciting weekend.

STAY TUNED FOR MY STORY OVER MY 7 DAY TRIP TO HOLLAND!!! SAND, BEACHES, AND SUMMER TIME FUN IN ZEELAND!

Weekend on the Mosel PART IV: Ürzig to Traben-Trarbach

So where did I leave off…. Hmmmmm……

We decided not to drive straight home after visiting our family in Trier, so we found a cute little Bed & Breakfast in Ürzig along the Mosel.  A first place prize winner needs to relax a little bit, and what a better way to do so then in a quiet little wine village along the Mosel! I promise that this puppy will not get too big of head.

On the way to Ürzig we passed a city called “Kenn.”  I wonder if they named it after my dad?  We drove down the mountain to Ürizg, and I was able to see the vineyards growing along side the steep slopes of the mountains all the way down to the Mosel!  It was really beautiful.  Even a young puppy like myself can appreciate the stunning scenery.

We checked into Gästhaus Weingut Derkum.  It is a beautiful little Bed & Breakfast in the center of the village!  The owners are very nice and will make you feel will at home.  If you go there and mention that you read about their Bed & Breakfast on my page, maybe they will remember me!  Who knows… there is only one Roo right?

Our room was at the top of the building, so I could look down onto the street!  What a cute little street!  After checking in, we decided to go for a walk.  We first walked along the Mosel!!!  So beautiful.  Then we walked around the village looking at the buildings and enjoying the peaceful streets!  It is a really adorable little village!

About that time, we were all getting hungry… we got a recommendation from a local and decided to drive up the mountain to a restaurant called Wäldschenke Ürzig.  The sisters that work there are really friendly, we talked to them for a quite awhile… one would think they are twins!!!  The dinner was really nice.

Afterwards, we went back down the mountain.  We decided to try out the restaurant that is owned by the same people that own the Bed & Breakfast…. St. Marternuskeller. It is in the cellar of the building across the street from where we were sleeping!  Very convenient for a puppy who has had a long day!

We then retired for the night…. I was so sleepy.  I had such a long and exciting day!

The next morning we got up.  The sun was shining bright and we were ready to get our start!  I first went outside with Kenn to go to the bathroom and buy postcards to send to friends & family.  There was a bakery down the street that sold cards… I could not go in, but Kenn was able to.  We then met Julia down on the street outside of the Bed & Breakfast, we all went inside to have breakfast!  What a lovely setup…. full of food!  We ate then we checked out… Julia of course had to buy a couple bottles of wine first.  We had to right???  Again, still do not think Julia will let me try it, but at least I can look at the pretty bottles!

We decided to drive up the Mosel and visit a few more villages.  We got detoured and stopped by a Flohmarkt (Flea Market).  It was along the Mosel, and was very nice to walk around.

Our next stop was Traben-Trarbach…  It is actually two cities that sit opposite each other on the Mosel.  A bridge connects the two villages.  It is cute with several little shops, some cafes/restaurants, and museums.  There are also ruins that are on top of the mountain that overlook the two cities.  We did not have time to go to the top, but it was still a very nice town to visit.

I was able to run with another dog and play fetch with his ball!  It was so much fun!  I can not think of a better way to spend a beautiful summer day!  Playing alongside the Mosel… a dream come true!!!  I have to say my mom planned a pretty spectacular trip for us!

Weekend on the Mosel PART III: Wine Festival in Trier

After an awarding winning day in Konz, I was ready to relax.  There is only so much a puppy can do in one day!

My mom’s brother and his family live a short distance away from Konz in Trier.  So we decided to make our way there.  I wanted to drive, but once again I was denied.  They do not think I can keep both paws on the wheel!

Trier is the oldest city in Germany and was founded in 16BC or so… which is pretty old in dog years.  The great thing is that Trier was having its city festival (Altstadtfest)!  So we all went and found a table near the Cathedral (Hoher Dom or Trierer Dom).  While there I enjoyed playing with my extended family and relaxing.  Once again, I was short changed on the wine… they think I am too young!  Trier is well known for its delicious wines… maybe one day I will get to try some…. maybe!  There was live music to entertain us, and the atmosphere was filled with excitement!  I had a lot of fun exploring and sniffing around!  There was even a prehistoric pooch walking around (see photo below).  Exploring the gardens at the Kurfürstliches Palais is wonderful!  Trier is a beautiful city with a lot of history.  I know we will be back to visit our family there for sure!

Julia and Kenn decided that instead of driving home (3 hours or so) that we would find another Bed & Breakfast for the night.  After searching for free WiFi (which is a task in Germany) we booked a room for the night in Ürzig!  So we were off on the next leg of our adventure along the Mosel!!!

Weekend on the Mosel PART II: My first show (Ausstellung in Konz)

On Saturday morning we woke up in the nice Bed & Breakfast that Julia had found in Konz.  Kenn took me out for a brief walk before breakfast, while Julia got ready.  After that we had an amazing breakfast… Kenn even gave me some of the HAM!!!! YUMMY!  That was so nice of him.

I was a little nervous about going to the show in Konz… It was for Whippets and Irish Wolfhounds.  Thank goodness I did not half to compete against the Irish Wolfhounds…. they are so HUGE compared to me!!!

We got there and looked around for a little while.  I quickly made new friends… Laura, Ayla (another Whippet), and Timmy (another puppy!)!  I also met some other Whippets, and their owners!  After meeting several other nice dogs and people I was calm and ready to go!

Then it started raining…  “Oh NO”…  But no worries the sun came back out and was shining bright!  I was in the youngest class, so I was going to be showed first.  On top of that I was number 1, which meant I was definitely going to be showed first!  I am so glad that I had my mom there by my side!  She is really amazing!

Everyone was invited out onto the field for a glass of sparkling wine… or orange juice.  I chose not to drink anything, I did not want to add things to the butterflies that were in my stomach.

A few minutes later Julia and I went back out on to the field.  Julia walked me around the field.  It was my first time, so I was not sure if I should run, walk or sniff.  But I think I did ok!  Then I had to get up on a table for one of the judges to inspect me.  Again, so glad that my mom was there with me, she always makes me feel good and keeps me calm!  The judge said I had a good head, and that I was elegant.  He also gave me some tips for next time!  I then went back out onto the field with Julia and waited.  The judge came back with a big red ribbon and a teddy bear with a whippet t-shirt on.  Guess what the Ribbon said???!!!!  1. Platz! That means 1st place in German!  Oh, I could not stop wagging my tail in excitement.  My first ever ribbon, and a first place ribbon at that!  I was so proud of my mom!!!  She not only is beautiful she has a lot of courage.  It is not easy to go in front of people for the first time and try something new, but she did and we won!!!

I stayed and watched some of the other divisions compete.  Laura, and Ayla also did a really good job.  Then I had a little bit of lunch.  Afterwards, I went for a walk with Julia, Kenn, Laura, Ayla, and Timmy!  It was so nice to get off the field and run wild!  Another group of people stopped with their whippets and we all ran on a meadow together! What a beautiful day!!!!

I even got to pass out some of my business cards (read one of my earlier posts).  People loved them and thought they were so cute!  Kenn is brilliant for coming up with the idea.

We then said goodbye to our new friends and we headed to Trier for our next adventure!  Again this story would be too long to post all at once, and I can not type that much at one time… my little paws would be hurting!!!  It is not easy getting up on a desk and tapping at the keyboard with my paws!!!

So stay tuned to read about he rest of the fun we had!!!

Weekend on the Mosel PART I: Nittel

My mom planned an exciting adventure for last weekend!  So exciting that I can not squeeze it all into one post.

Julia registered me to be in a Whippet and Irish Wolfhound show in Konz, which is not far from Trier.  Because it was a long drive there, she thought it would be better to find a bed & breakfast for the night to stay in so that I would be able to get enough beauty sleep for the show!

She found  a cute little place in Nittel along the Mosel.  Once we got there we checked in. We took a little drive to another little village to have coffee and cake!  I always have time for coffee and cake!!!

Then drove back to Nittel and we walked along the Mosel for a little while.  It was really beautiful.  I could look across the river to Luxembourg.  If I could swim, I could have crossed the river into another country!  Alas, I am still getting used to water… plus the Mosel might be too wide for me to cross!

After walking along the Mosel, we decided to take a walk through the village!  It was so nice, with so many restaurants and wineries.  We decided to eat at Apel…. It was such a nice day that Julia and Kenn decided to sit outside.  Which is fine with me, because I like the fresh air!  They both tried some of the wine, but they did not let me try because I am underage!

After dinner we took a walk through the vineyards.  Kenn picked an apple and we played fetch.  Playing fetch with an apple is so much sweeter than playing with a ball (literally speaking)!  I have never walked through a vineyard before along the Mosel, so it was breathtaking!

Then we returned to the bed & breakfast and got ready to sleep!  I had to be ready for my big day!

A Business Savvy Whippet

They came… They came…  They came today!  I can not stop wagging my tail in excitement.

I am now a business savvy whippet that has his own business cards.  You might find yourself scratching your head right about now thinking…. Wait did Roo just say he has business cards? What on Earth does a puppy need business cards for????  But you heard me right I have business cards!!!

Kenn and I sat down one evening… and he said “If you are going to start attending shows and events, then you should have a business card to hand out.  If you meet people selling products such as collars, you might want to give them a card.  Or if you go into a specialty dog shop and you want them to check out your review of their shop… that you should give them a card.”  He also said, “If you want to set up play dates (the new American thing for kids and dogs) you might want to be able to give the person or dog a card.”

I of course looked at him with my ears twisted.  But he kind of made sense.  So we went on Moo.com, and started designing cards.  We picked out some (actually a lot of photos) that he and Julia liked.  Then we added my blog info, my email address, and of course my Twitter link….  Kenn has made Moo cards before, and he is right they are amazing!!!

So, Patrick Bateman eat your heart out…. double-sided with pictures, white text on a perky green background!  There might not be a watermark… but I have different pictures to choose from!  Which should be fun to pass out to people!!!  I am running large and in charge now!!! Woof!
