This Sunday morning I woke up and Julia looked at me. She asked, “Do you know what day it is?” I replied, “All you can eat day at the pet store?” She said… “No Silly Roo! It is Tag des Hundes!” I said “Huh?” She then explained it was the Dog Day in Germany! Oh oh oh…. I understand now! At that point I could not stop wagging my little tail!
She planed a big day for our family. Our first stop was in Langenfeld! They had an amazing little set up.. with booths and fun activities.
I even got to run the track and see how fast I could go. I have to admit that I had second place out of 10 dogs. I am not sure what the final standing was… but I am sure I kept my rank!
Then, there was another activity. We went into the field section of the event and a girl took out the strangest little puppy I have seen. Kenn said it was a Ferret! I have no idea what kind of dog a Ferret is, but I had to take a closer look. I was really intrigued by it… Another puppy and myself had photos taken of us and the ferret by a photographer who works for the Rheinischer Post. So maybe we will appear in it. Kenn said to look at Hilden and Langenfeld’s papers to see if you see me!
We then walked around a little more. Kenn had to buy me some meat lollipops at a booth. He bought: Salami, Cheese, and Liverwurst. You can also find them online at Artel & Hens. They make a cute gift… and I have to say I already ate the Salami one!!! YUMMY!!!
Our next stop was at the windhund racetrack in Hochdahl. They had races for all dogs! I did not run there, but I did watch for a little while. It was cute to see the little dogs run! I also got to meet some other sighthounds there too!
So Tag des Hundes was a lot of fun for me and my family!!! I can’t wait until the next one!
“PAWS & HEARTS FOREVER!”
